Vladimir Kurchevskijs and Sandra Rucinski have been competing together as Amateurs since October 2008, where they came second place in the Ontario Open Adult Championship Latin category. In November 2008, they came second place in the Under-21 Championship Latin category at the Ohio Star Ball, the largest competition in the United States which is also televised as the “America’s Ballroom Challenge.” They are currently developing a Standard repertoire as well.
In April 2009, Vlad and Sandra placed 5th in the Canadian Amateur Closed Championships held in Montreal, making them potentially eligible for teaching. Since then, Vlad has passed his teaching examination and is now available for lessons at Viva Dance. Sandra also plans to teach as an amateur as soon as time allows her to complete her qualifying exam.
