All the judges have stories, and most are fascinating. Pat’s is astounding. Interview with Pat Traymore was in the November 2008 issue of Dance Beat. She is Persian. Her father, Abdolhossein Teymourtash, was a minister of the court of Iran. He was put in prison and later assassinated. Her mother sent her to the US when she was 15.
This paragraph is about her languages:”Well, I had a British nanny and I used to speak with a British accent. Of course I speak Farsi since I am from Iran. The accepted school to go to in Iran was French, Ecole Jean D’Arc. I did half a year there so I spoke French. Half of the Caspian Sea belongs to Russia and half to Iran. In the summer my mother took me there to swim and I learned Russian. As a child this is very easy. The British nanny was actually a spy, so she was fired. So then I got a German nanny and had to speak German. In America, my brother-in-law was Italian, and he spoke Italian to my sister and her children, so pretty soon I had picked up Italian. I speak every language without an accent. The Russian dancers here can’t believe I’ve never been to Russia, but I haven’t. Language is something I find very interesting.”
